Robert Swire Counselling

My name is Robert Swire and I’m really glad you are here.

I am a counsellor with over 25 years’ experience of supporting people to improve the quality of their lives and their relationships. I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step in seeking support.

Welcome

Working with me

When I work with someone we usually start with a conversation, exploring what has brought you to seek support and how counselling might help you. The approach I take is first and foremost to build a relationship, one in which you can feel safe to explore what’s important to you. Counselling sessions would be weekly, for 50 minutes at the same time each week.

You are very welcome to call me to discuss what you feel you need right now and to start a conversation about how we can work together. This initial consultation is free and there is no obligation. After this, if we both decide to take things further we will normally have two or three sessions together to assess whether counselling with me is right for you at this time. After these initial sessions, if we both feel that it would be good for us to continue working together we can then enter into longer term counselling.

For some people counselling can be fairly short term, of between a few weeks and several months. Others find it beneficial to be in longer term counselling. I offer both short and long term counselling.
